CARS Net - Net Control Station Script Outline

Below is a suggested script to follow for performing Net Control duties for the CARS Net. As an alternative, a Microsoft Word (11 KB) and an Adobe Reader (17 KB) versions are available for download and to use as you perform Net Control duties. You may also print out this page for your convenience to perform these duties.

Check to see that the repeater is not in use (by listening for several minutes or check by calling on the repeater). If in use, try to ask the stations to allow the net to operate.

Repeater check text:
CQ, CQ, ____________ (call sign), checking the frequency.

(If nothing heard): Stand by for the CARS club net, beginning in ___ minutes.

CARS Net - Net Control Script:

CQ, CQ, CQ - Good evening. It's time for the Capital Amateur Radio Society (CARS) Net. This Net meets each Monday night at 8:30 P. M. local time on the 147.105 repeater in Frankfort, Kentucky. Our repeater has a PL tone of 107.2. This is an informal net and can be used to pass emergency and non-emergency traffic and to make comments and announcements. All amateur stations are invited to check into the net.

Net Control for tonight's session is ____________ (call sign) and the name of net control is ___________________ (name).

First of all is there any emergency or priority traffic to be listed at this time? If so, please call ____________ (call sign). (Pause at least 30 seconds, list in log).

All participating stations are reminded that should they have emergency or priority traffic that needs to be listed during the net, they should call for a break by calling Emergency or Break, Break. Priority will be given to all stations needing to list emergency or priority traffic.

Do we have anyone tonight checking in on mobiles or on short time? If so, please call ____________ (call sign). (Pause at least 30 seconds, list in log).

We will now begin accepting routine check-ins. Please check in with your call sign, first name and your city or county of operation. At the completion of check ins, we will return to the top of the list to take comments and announcements, so please stick around once you have checked in with net control. Check-ins, please call ____________ (call sign). (Pause at least 30 seconds, list in log) (NOTE: If no check-ins, skip the next two paragraphs.)

Okay, now let's go back to the top of the list and check back with our check-ins for this evening.

Well that takes us back to the bottom of the list.
